For the Record (Rimni 2012)

my speech draft for Rimini International Choral Competition 2012 in Rimini, Italy.

I represented my group, Iwata Bach Choir, with this speech at the stage, in front of a bunch of competing groups. I tried my best though, deep in my heart, I was really freaked out!
I think I could've done what I was expected...well, I believe.

I guess this experience was an big event for me, like once in a life time, so let me record this for remembering the time I shared with the marvelous members in October 2012.

先日ブログを書いている時、ふっ、と
「そう言えば、去年イタリアに行った話は、全くブログに書く余裕がなかったんだ！」
と気づきました。

昨年１０月の話なんで、もう１０ヶ月くらい経ってしまっている。

まさに、Time flies...でした。

コンペのステージで英語スピーチをする、というタスクを仰せつかり、
真っ青になって文案を作り、
毎日練習したのを思い出します。
グループを代表してのスピーチでしたから、失敗したら、皆さんの恥ですからねぇ。

おかげさまで、本番では
上がらずに出来ました。
内心は、「ひえー！　ひえー！」
みたいな感じでしたけど。

このスピーチは、前年の東日本大震災サポートを世界の人々に感謝する、みたいなものを、と大会本部からリクエストされたもので、なんか、スペシャルなものだったようです。他のグループは、全くスピーチなしだったので、
「ひょ、ひょっとして、スピーチするのは、私だけ？！」
と途中で気づき、目の前真っ暗になりましたっけ。

ともあれ、思い出の記録に
書いておくことにしました。
こんな経験、一生のうちで
そう何度もあるもんじゃないですからねー。

First of all, we thank you for this wonderful opportunity singing in Rimini International Choral Competition 2012. With the warm hospitality shown by Italian people, our stay in Rimini was one of the most memorable and fascinating experiences.

Since we are the only group from Japan this time, we would like to show our respects to you and the people around the world who shared our grief and sorrow, and expressed sincere regrets for our loss at the disaster of 311 Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011.

Although it seems the dark clouds are still hanging over the future of our country, with your great support, we are sure we can hold each other's hand and walk forward together.

まずはじめに、このリミニ合唱コンペティション2012に参加して、歌う機会が得られましたことを感謝申し上げます。イタリアの皆様のお心遣いによって、私たちのリミニ滞在は、大変思い出深い、素晴らしいものとなりました。

今回日本からの参加は、私たちだけということで、ここで、昨年３月１１日に起こった地震と津波による大災害に対して、皆様が、また世界中の人々が示して下さった心よりの哀悼の意に感謝を捧げたいと思います。

未だ日本の未来には暗雲が垂れ込めていますが、皆様の力強いサポートにより、私たちは共に手をたずさえ、前進していくことが出来る、と確信しております。

皆様のお心に感謝します。
皆様に神様の祝福がありますように！
